FAQ

Things
people
ask us.

Mostly in our DMs, usually starting with “sorry if this is a silly question.” It never is.

Coming to an event

Can I come alone?

Yes, and most people do. Coming on your own is the normal way to arrive here, not the brave one.

You’ll be introduced, you’ll end up in a group whether you plan to or not, and the hour after the workout exists precisely so that nobody stands around on their own. Plenty of the friendships in this community started with two strangers who both came alone.

Do I need to be experienced? Or fit?

No, and no. Events are coached from the front and everything can be scaled up or down on the spot. You just say the word, or the coach will spot it anyway.

At any given event there are women who’ve trained for years and women who have never touched a barbell. Nobody is watching you. Everyone is busy surviving their own set.

Are sa’i events women-only?

Yes. Always, without exception. It’s the reason a lot of women feel able to come at all, and we’re not going to change it.

What’s the age range?

Mostly 18 to 35. There’s no cut-off in either direction. If it looks like your kind of thing, it is.

What should I wear?

Whatever you’re comfortable moving in. There’s no dress code and no expectations. Full coverage, shorts, hijab, whatever works for you and the format.

Bring water. That’s the rest of the packing list.

What’s actually included in a ticket?

It varies by event, but the shape is usually the same: about an hour of movement, then about an hour of social. Depending on the event that social hour might include food, drinks, a photographer, or something from a partner brand.

The exact details for each one are on its ticket page.

Where are events held?

All over the GTA. So far Vaughan, Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton, with Scarborough on the list. We deliberately move around so it isn’t always the same women who have the short drive.

Tickets

How do I hear about the next event?

Two ways: Instagram, and the email list, which hears first, because rooms are small and they do fill.

Can I get a refund?

Tickets are non-refundable. Rooms are small, so a spot held is a spot someone else couldn’t have.

You can pass your spot to another woman. Email us at least 48 hours before with her name and email so we know who’s coming through the door.

If we cancel or move an event, you choose: a full refund, or your spot at the new date. Full details are in the terms.

An event is sold out. Now what?

Email us to go on the waitlist. Spots do come back. And join the list so the next one doesn’t sell out before you see it.

Your body, and safety

Is it safe? What if I get injured?

Every event is run by a coach who knows what she’s doing, in a proper facility, and you always work at your own level. But we’ll be straight with you: any physical activity carries some risk of injury, and nobody can promise otherwise.

You take part voluntarily and at your own risk, which is what you’re agreeing to when you book. Practically, that means: go at your pace, ask for an easier version of anything whenever you want it, and stop if something hurts. The full wording is in the terms.

I’m pregnant, injured, or have a health condition. Can I still come?

Often yes, and we’d love to have you. Please talk to your doctor first if you’re pregnant or recently postpartum, coming back from an injury or surgery, or living with something affected by exercise, like a heart condition, asthma or diabetes.

Then tell the coach quietly at the start. It’s never announced to the room. It just means the person at the front can give you a version that works for your body instead of guessing.

Do I have to be in the photos?

No. We photograph and film most events and use it on the site and on Instagram, because it’s how women find us. If you’d rather not appear, tell us on the day and we’ll make sure of it, or ask us afterwards to take something down and we will.

Working with us

Can a brand sponsor or partner on an event?

Yes. We work with brands that genuinely add something to the room. There’s more on the contact page, or just email saisocietyy@gmail.com.

Can a gym, studio or coach collaborate?

Please get in touch. Every event we run needs a space and someone excellent at the front, and hosting one puts your studio in front of a room of women who train.

Something else?

Ask us. saisocietyy@gmail.com or a DM to @saisociety_. We’re real people and we answer.
