Terms

The bit in
small print.

Short version: our events involve physical activity, so there is always some risk. Come as you are, tell us what we need to know about your body, and understand that you are choosing to take part. Everything we publish is general information, not medical advice.

These terms apply when you book a sa’i society event or use anything on this site. If something here does not sit right with you, please email us before you book.

Who our events are for

Women, always. Our events are for women aged 18 and over, unless a specific event says otherwise. You do not need experience, a level of fitness, or to know anybody in the room.

Physical activity, and the risk that comes with it

Our events involve exercise. That can mean lifting weights, running, hitting pads, playing a sport, or using equipment you have not used before. Any physical activity carries a risk of injury, from sore muscles through to something more serious, and no coach or organiser can remove that risk entirely.

By booking a place you are telling us that you understand that risk and that you take part voluntarily and at your own risk. You are responsible for your own body on the day: work at your own level, ask for a modification whenever you want one, and stop if something hurts.

To the extent the law allows, sa’i society and its founders are not liable for injury, illness, loss or damage to your belongings arising from taking part, except where it is caused by our own negligence. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Ontario law that cannot be signed away.

Your health

Please talk to your doctor before taking part if you are pregnant or recently postpartum, recovering from an injury or surgery, living with a heart condition, high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes, or any condition affected by exercise, or if you take medication that changes how you respond to activity.

Tell the coach at the start of the session about anything relevant, including injuries and anything you need to work around. It is not an interrogation and it is never announced to the room. It just means the person at the front can look after you properly.

If you feel dizzy, faint, unusually short of breath or unwell at any point, stop and tell someone immediately.

Where our events are held

We run events at other people’s studios, gyms, courts and parks. While you are in their space, their rules apply too, including anything they ask you to sign at the door, and their staff have the final say on how their equipment is used.

Tickets, moving and cancelling

Tickets are non-refundable. Our rooms are small on purpose, so a spot held is a spot another woman could not have.

You can pass your spot to another woman if you email us at least 48 hours before the event with her name and email, so we know who is coming through the door.

If we cancel or move an event, you choose: a full refund, or your spot at the rescheduled date. If we ever have to cancel at short notice, for weather or because a venue falls through, we will tell you as early as we can by email.

We may refuse entry, or ask someone to leave without a refund, if their behaviour makes the room unsafe or unwelcoming. This has never happened and we would like to keep it that way.

Photography and filming

We usually photograph and film our events and use the results on this website, on social media, and in things we send to partners. If you would rather not appear, tell us on the day and we will make sure of it. You can also ask us to take something down afterwards, at any time, and we will.

The free tools and guides

The calculator, the plan it builds, the glossary and anything we write are general information, not medical or dietary advice, and we are not doctors or registered dietitians. The numbers are estimates from standard equations built on population averages, so they can be out for any individual person.

Please speak to a doctor or a registered dietitian before acting on any of it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a health condition, take medication that affects your weight or appetite, or have any history of disordered eating. If following a number starts to feel stressful rather than useful, stop. That is a signal worth listening to.

We cannot promise a result. Nobody honestly can.

Partners and paid promotion

Sometimes a brand pays to be part of an event or a guide. When that happens we say so, on the thing itself, every time. Our advice does not change because somebody paid, and we will not recommend something we would not use.

What belongs to us

The words, photographs, video and design on this site belong to sa’i society. Use the tools and the plans for yourself as much as you like, print them, share them with a friend. Please do not republish our work as your own or sell it.

Other people’s sites

We link out to ticketing, studios and partners. Once you are there you are covered by their terms and their privacy policy, not ours.

Changes

We may update these terms as sa’i grows. The version on this page at the time you book is the one that applies to your booking.

Talking to us

Questions about any of this go to saisocietyy@gmail.com and a real person answers. How we handle your details is on the privacy page.
